Summary

Live like a local in Oxford and experience the area from this fantastic 3 Bedroom house in the eclectic area of Jericho. The house is stylishly designed and perfectly set up for a family or group of friends visiting Oxford. The house is just a 15 minute walk into the city centre and very close to bars, restaurants and local amenities.

The Space

This house is the perfect space for hosting friends or a family on their trip to Oxford, whether it be for work or holiday. We are are excited to welcome guests to our stylish three bedroom house in Jericho. We believe Jericho to be Oxford's hidden gem, it is buzzing with energy and has an eclectic range of independent bars, shops, cafes and music venues all within walking distance of the house. The house is only a 15 minute walk to the city centre but there is plenty to get you started in this hip and happening area. One of our personal favourites close by is the Rickety Press - great for beers & burgers or brunch (yummy! ) and always a great atmosphere.

On the ground floor there is an open plan living and kitchen area. The perfect space to chill out and gather around the generous dining table. The open plan area has doors that lead out onto the private patio at the rear of the house which is the perfect place to relax on a summers evening. There is a secondary dining table outside for guests to use should guests wish to dine out, as well as the seating around surrounding the patio. Our favourite time of day is the evening when the colourful lights around the patio can be turned on and they twinkle as you sit round with friends and family and share stories over a glass of wine.  Also on the ground floor there is one bedroom (double bed) which has a sink in the room and a separate WC.

The upper floor has two further bedrooms. The Master bedroom (king size) is our favourite with a role top bath. The second bedroom is a double room which looks out onto the lovely patio area. There is also the family style bathroom complete with separate shower and bath.

Things to Note

The stairs up to the upper level of the house are narrow and steep so may not be ideal for anyone unsteady on their feet.

The Neighbourhood

Jericho is an historic suburb of Oxford where its streets are bounded by the Oxford Canal, Worcester College, Walton Street and Walton Well Road. The neighbourhood boasts thriving independent retailers and businesses, trendy bars, eclectic restaurants and generally has a vintage character and off beat edge which has led to it being named on the country’s “hippest spots”. Combe Road in Jericho was features in the first episode of the TV drama Inspector Morse as was the exterior of the popular Book Binders pub. Another pub well worth a visit and renowned for hosting amazing live music acts is the Jericho Tavern which is centrally located and has heart, soul and personality! If it’s cake you fancy, you must sample Barefoot, an independent café offering delicious homemade cakes and brownies and a great selection of teas. Gails bakery is also close by and offers something for the sweet and savoury palette. Jericho is conveniently located just a 10 minute walk to the centre of Oxford City or a 20 minute walk from Summertown which boasts cafes, wine bars, restaurants and local supermarkets

Getting Around

Unfortunately there is no parking with the property however there is paid for parking on Great Clarendon Street which is a few minute walk from the house. There are also a few parking spaces with limited times i.e 1 - 2 hours,  on neighbouring streets and the same spaces can also be used in the evenings between times i.e 6:30pm and 8am.

Oxford is a small city so you can get to most places by foot. The central bus station is located on George Street. There are a number of bus services covering Oxford and the surrounding areas as well as London and southern airports. The main train station in central Oxford is on New Road, from here you have quick and easy access to London. Alternatively there is the Oxford Parkway train station which travels between Oxford, Bicester village and London Marylebone. We recommend the Royal Cars taxi app.
